Abstract

This study aims to examine the deep relationship between the supply chain and absorptive capacity, as well as to provide strategies for improving the performance of sports product development. This descriptive-survey research of a correlational type gathered the necessary information through questionnaires. To this end, 385 managers and employees from the country's sports manufacturing companies were randomly selected based on Cochran's formula as the statistical sample. For data collection, standard questionnaires on product development (Monazami, 2017), absorptive capacity (Javalgi et al., 2014), and supply chain integration (Flynn et al., 2010) were used. Partial least squares method and PLS software were employed to test the research hypotheses. The findings revealed that deep coordination and integration between the supply chain and absorptive capacity have a positive and significant impact on product development performance. These results indicate that knowledge absorption is essential for achieving sports product development goals and business growth. Actions such as developing coordination processes in raw material supply, improving production processes, and enhancing the capability to absorb and utilize technical and managerial knowledge can lead to significant improvements in the efficiency and performance of the sports industry, especially in the development of products and the provision of sports services.
